SSCE Biology Textbook Development (CTRI Learning Hub)

SSCE Biology (CTRI Learning Hub)

This page serves as the central hub for the development of the SSCE Biology textbook under the Collaborative Tutorial Resources Initiative (CTRI). It contains the roadmap, chapter structure, and updates for all Biology learning materials.

About This Textbook

The CTRI Biology textbook is being designed to support self-study learning for secondary school students preparing for SSCE examinations (WAEC, JAMB & NECO).

The goal is to make Biology:

  • Clear and understandable
  • Structured in logical progression
  • Supported with step-by-step explanations
  • Accessible without teacher dependency

Current Development Status

The Biology textbook is currently in early development. We are actively working on structuring the first set of chapters.

Biology Textbook Roadmap

The textbook is organised into nine pedagogical Themes, each functioning as a mini-book. Chapters are numbered within each Theme.

ChapterTitle
2.1Cell Structure and Function
2.2The Cell and Its Environment
2.3Nucleic Acids, DNA and Protein Synthesis
2.4Cell Division

Theme 3 — Life Processes in Organisms

How living organisms carry out the essential processes that sustain life

ChapterTitle
3.1Nutrition
3.2Respiration
3.3Excretion

Version System

CTRI uses a living-document approach:

  • Draft (0.1)
  • Review (0.5)
  • Published (1.0)
  • Updated editions (1.1, 1.2…)

This ensures continuous improvement based on feedback.
