SSCE Physics Textbook Development (CTRI Learning Hub)
SSCE Physics (CTRI Learning Hub)
This page serves as the central hub for the development of the SSCE Physics textbook under the Collaborative Tutorial Resources Initiative (CTRI). It contains the roadmap, chapter structure, and updates for all Physics learning materials.
About This Textbook
The CTRI Physics textbook is being designed to support self-study learning for secondary school students preparing for SSCE examinations (WAEC, JAMB & NECO).
The goal is to make Physics:
- Clear and understandable
- Structured in logical progression
- Supported with step-by-step explanations
- Accessible without teacher dependency
Current Development Status
The Physics textbook is currently in early development. We are actively working on structuring the first set of chapters.
Physics Textbook Roadmap
The textbook is organised into six pedagogical Themes, each functioning as a mini-book. Chapters are numbered within each Theme.
Theme 1 — Measurement and Properties of Matter
The language of Physics — how we measure and describe the physical world
| Chapter | Title |
|---|---|
| 1.1 | Measurement and Units |
| 1.2 | Properties of Matter |
Theme 2 — Motion and Forces
Understanding how and why objects move — from simple motion to Newton’s Laws
| Chapter | Title |
|---|---|
| 2.1 | Types of Motion and Forces |
| 2.2 | Linear Motion and Graphs |
| 2.3 | Newton’s Laws of Motion |
| 2.4 | Equilibrium and Circular Motion |
Theme 3 — Energy, Work and Heat
Energy in its many forms — mechanical, thermal, and how it is transferred and transformed
| Chapter | Title |
|---|---|
| 3.1 | Work, Energy and Power |
| 3.2 | Heat Energy and Temperature |
| 3.3 | Gas Laws |
Theme 4 — Waves
How energy travels through space and matter — from ripples to light and sound
| Chapter | Title |
|---|---|
| 4.1 | Wave Motion |
| 4.2 | Light Waves |
| 4.3 | Electromagnetic Waves |
| 4.4 | Sound Waves |
Theme 5 — Fields
Forces that act at a distance — gravitational, electric and magnetic fields
| Chapter | Title |
|---|---|
| 5.1 | Electric Fields and Electrostatics |
| 5.2 | Current Electricity |
| 5.3 | Magnetic Fields |
| 5.4 | Electromagnetic Induction and AC Circuits |
Theme 6 — Atomic and Nuclear Physics
The deep structure of matter — atoms, nuclei, radiation and modern physics
| Chapter | Title |
|---|---|
| 6.1 | Structure of the Atom |
| 6.2 | Nuclear Physics |
